My infatuation for both science and art has remained a constant for as long as I can remember. So naturally while studying clinical microbiology at George Washington University, developing sketches from study material was an essential part of my learning process. It profoundly enhances my understanding as well as ability to memorize new information. Importantly it also gave me, someone who has difficulty sitting still and not letting my mind wander, something relevant to do with my hands. I also had two brilliantly curious young children who were (and still are) always peeking over my shoulder for a quick illustration so that they could somewhat grasp and join in on whatever Mom was doing. Once my studies were complete and I was working within a clinical microbiology lab, I became bombarded with mesmerizing gram stains which further inspired me to explore and develop myself as an artist.
Today I am raising my three little ones and continue to paint daily, inspired by the vast world of science as I continue this journey to learn something new each and every day.
