I vividly recall a day in my Microbial Genetics undergrad class when a large faded image of the Haemophilus influenzae genome loomed on the white screen at the front of the classroom. A wave of inspiration originated from this one image and I soon began sketching my own genetic maps out of curiosity. Exploring the art of science proved to be a valuable learning tool as I carried this with me into my studies of clinical microbiology. And yes, gram stains are mesmerizing!
Today I am raising my three little ones and continue to paint, inspired daily by this gorgeous and vast universe of science.
